Construction Updates

April Construction Activities:

  • Site enabling work in the commercial area and on Hill Street is now complete for The Vale
  • Ongoing construction of Delaney at The Vale; an upcoming assisted living community
  • Ongoing construction of Highland at The Vale; multi-family and townhome residences

Dec 2023-Mar 2024

  • Environmental Monitoring and Reporting Continues​
  • Site Grading / Retaining Walls – Complete. Following grading completion, ground stabilization measures were completed; tackifier and seeding.
  • Sidewalks and Landscaping – Complete
  • The Delaney at The Vale – Interior finish work is ongoing; curb, sidewalks, patio, and landscaping work is ongoing.
  • Highland at Vale:
    • The first multi-family building is projected to be completed in Q1 2024, and construction is underway on Building 2 which is expected to be complete Summer 2024; construction of drainage, utility infrastructure, and binder pavement is complete for the parking area to support the first two multi-family buildings.
    • Townhome construction continues on Archer Drive and Cooley Drive with approximately 25 homes under construction in various stages; the first townhomes have now been completed on Archer Drive; construction of drainage, utility infrastructure, and binder pavement is complete for Archer Drive and Cooley Drive (North of MWRA easement), and that work is in process for Goodwin Drive.

Sep-Dec 2023

  • Environmental Monitoring and Reporting Continues​
  • Site Grading / Retaining Walls – Complete. Following grading completion, ground stabilization measures were completed; tackifier and seeding.
  • Sidewalks and Landscaping – Complete
  • The Delaney at The Vale – Interior finish work is ongoing; top coat of asphalt to be completed Sep 2023; curb, sidewalks, patio, and landscaping work is ongoing.
  • Highland at Vale:
    • The first multi-family building is projected to be completed in Nov/Dec 2023, and construction is underway on Building 2; construction of drainage, utility infrastructure, and binder pavement is complete for the parking area to support the first two multi-family buildings.
    • Townhome construction continues on Archer Drive and Cooley Drive, and the first townhomes have now been completed on Archer Drive; construction of drainage, utility infrastructure, and binder pavement is complete for Archer Drive and Cooley Drive (North of MWRA easement), and that work is in process for Goodwin Drive and the end of Cooley Drive.

Jun-Aug 2023

  • Environmental Monitoring and Reporting Continues​
  • Site Grading / Retaining Walls – Final work on commercial and townhome parcels expected to be complete by end of July. Upon grading completion, stabilize and seed to green the site.
  • Sidewalks and Landscaping – Installation of fencing, road guard rails, sidewalks and adjacent landscaping ongoing, and expected to be complete by July.
  • Internal roadway and utility infrastructure – Complete​

Mar/Apr 2023

  • Environmental monitoring and reporting continues.
  • Site Grading is ongoing throughout Commercial and Townhome Parcels and is expected to be complete by the end of April.
  • Sidewalks and Landscaping – Installation of fencing, road guard rails, finished sidewalks and adjacent landscaping to begin mid-March, and complete by July.
  • Internal roadway and utility infrastructure – Mostly Complete. Paving the newly constructed bridge over Sweetwater Brook scheduled to be completed in April.​
  • Blasting – Complete​
  • Widening of Hill St and reconstruction of MassDOT parking lot work to resume March 20, and anticipate completion in July.​

Jan/Feb 2023

  • Environmental monitoring and reporting continues.
  • Site Grading is ongoing throughout Commercial and Townhome Parcels and is expected to be complete by the end of April.
  • Construction of internal roadway and utility infrastructure is mostly complete, with exception of a new bridge over Sweetwater Brook, scheduled for completion end of April.
  • Blasting is predominantly complete. Blasting will resume for approximately one week maximum at the beginning of February, to address a small area previously inaccessible. Neighbors will be notified in advance.
  • Widening of Hill St and reconstruction of MassDOT parking lot underway
  • Pulte commenced construction of Highland at The Vale, starting on foundations for first multi-family building and first row of townhomes. The first townhomes are expected to be completed Apr/May 2023.

Nov/Dec 2022

  • Abatement and demolition of the existing buildings is complete.
  • Environmental remediation (including wetland remediation) is complete.
  • Environmental monitoring and reporting continues.
  • Site Grading is ongoing throughout Commercial and Townhome Parcels and is expected to be complete by end of year.
  • Construction of internal roadway and utility infrastructure is mostly complete, with exception of a new bridge over Sweetwater Brook, scheduled for completion Spring 2023.
  • Blasting is complete.

  • While no blasting is expected the week of 12/27 – 12/31, a standard construction schedule is expected on site.  All trades will be adhering to required hours of operation.

November 2021

  • Blasting at the Senior Housing site ongoing and continuing through Mid-November 2021.
  • Blasting on Townhouse site tentatively to begin late October 2021.
  • Temporary and Permanent Site Stabilization Measures: Ongoing throughout construction.

September 2021

  • First blasting to commence on the senior housing site the week of 9/20-9/25
    • Anticipated to be 2 blasts per day
  • Contractor activity will continue to increase on site.
  • Pest control and vehicle wash stations will be maintained as the project progresses.
  • Building and Site Demolition will be ongoing
  • Tree clearing, grubbing, and stripping of topsoil will be ongoing.
  • Construction of Internal Roadway will begin late September
  • Blasting is expected to begin late September
  • A Zoom meeting for those interested in a brief update on the planned work is scheduled for September 15th. Representatives for the active projects will be present.

July 2021

  • July will see the beginning of construction activity on site.
  • Contractor activity will increase throughout the month as the projects begin to mobilize on site.
  • The teams will be marking out project limits, meeting with the Conservation Commission, and installing erosion controls mid-July.
  • Pest control and vehicle wash stations will be implemented in July.
  • Early building demolition is planned to commence in late July.
  • Tree clearing is planned to commence early August.
  • A Zoom construction update meeting was held on July 28, 2021 to provide an update on the planned work with representatives for the active projects in attendance.
